African, Afro Caribbean, Afro Latin, and African American peoples, in our 500 years on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, have created some absolutely breathtaking arts practices. Black dance can be means for people from all walks of life to better know themselves, their bodies, their past, and the current world around them.
Our mission is to embody the resilience and joy of the African Diaspora through dance and mermaid performance art and share that beauty with audiences of all backgrounds.

About Us
Amara Arts brings the art traditions of the African Diaspora to the Midwest through dance and performance. Based in St. Louis, we create cultural experiences through mermaid shows, choreography for weddings and parties, and immersive dance performances for curated events. Whether it’s a salsa workshop, a lively celebration, or a mermaid performance that tells a story, we infuse artistry and our heritage into every moment.
